Phil Everly, the younger half of The Everly Brothers is dead at 74. He died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at a hospital in Burbank yesterday.
He rung up a string of classic singles in the Fifties and Sixties with his brother Don. The vocal harmonies of the brothers were instantly recognizable. The duo brook up in 1973, but reunited in 1983. They continued to perform until 2004.
