Petite League Give Us a Frightening Love Song with ‘Annie’ [Stream]

Don’t get caught in the trappings of cutesy indie fuzz. This is a slasher love song. Bratty garage pop duo Petite League bring you the perfect combination of plot, fright and distortion with this lead-off single, wherein eponymous leading lady “Annie” is a villain. Well, more precisely, she’s Freddy Kruger. That’s right: Annie only looks at art to see her own reflection. Only says “I love you” when she’s lonely. Cuts into fevered dreams. Monstrously dangerous. Ungallant. Frightening. Tortured romantic Lorenzo Cook is oft left waking up in screams, wailing “Aaaaanie, you’re my Nightmare On Elm Street.” Eventually cranking the pedal and transgressing the Nightmare metaphor to a sellout crowd to his unconscious screening, screaming for their money back, he cajoles us into interpreting his night terrors for ourselves.

Give the jangly track 2:20 seconds of your time above. No Hitter is available May 23.
