Locals and other folks in the know make sure to begin their meal with what the Peppermill Cafe is known for: Roasted Red Pepper Bisque.
It’s a creamy carrot-colored soup but you won’t find carrots in it. Or tomatoes. Or anything else for that matter! Nothing but roasted red peppers make their way into Peppermill Cafe’s memorable signature soup!
Really, it’s a great way to get introduced to this amazing small Indiana town dining option.

There’s a lot of yummy sounding sandwiches here. Our youngest, age 3, requested a grilled cheese sandwich, Kid #2 went for a warm Ham and Swiss Cheese sandwich (with lettuce), and hubs and I? Well. We couldn’t make up our minds that fast!
I already saw that there was homemade dessert on the menu so I decided to save room by ordering the Spinach Gorgonzola Salad! Fresh baby spinach was tossed with Gorgonzola cheese, bacon, red onion, and topped with crisp bacon and a sliced hard-boiled egg.
Served with raspberry vinaigrette and homemade, fresh-baked beer bread it was as lovely to look at as it was to eat!
Even now as I write, I can almost taste that amazing bread. It was so incredibly good.

My husband, Jeremy opted for the grilled Italian sandwich. It was a glorious combination of ham, pepperoni, provolone cheese, salami, banana peppers, black olives, red onion, and then some.
It was served on fresh-baked Italian bread! In case you haven’t realized it yet, the bread at Peppermill Cafe is something else! Happily though, hubs let me have a bite. Mmm! Now that’s a great sandwich!
As awesome as the meal is, you have got to save room for dessert!
