It's about time I share one of my home projects with you. I've been slacking big time. This past weekend I got started peeling wallpaper in the guest bathroom. Fun times I tell ya.
Just a little reminder of what I'm working with:
Not only is the paper dated, it doesn't match any other room in our house. There's not a touch of red anywhere else.
The paper is actually coming off pretty easily using a scraper, a spray bottle and a sponge. My technique involves spraying the paper with water, using the sponge to rub it in and catch drips, waiting a minute or two, then scraping it off. Here are my tools:
I did buy some DIF spray, but so far it hasn't been needed.
Ready for a progress shot?
It's so...off-white! Off-white floors, cabinets, trim, tile, counter...it's a lot. Can't wait to add some new color to these walls. I'm thinking a light blue/green would look really pretty and maybe a large patterned or floral rug on the floor? The wheels are spinning!
Considering this is my first time removing wallpaper, I think I lucked out with how easily it's coming off. I've heard horror stories. Do you have any to share?
