Pavilion 75, WelcomHotel, Dwarka, Delhi: Brunch Time

By Indian Food Freak @IFoodFreak

_DSC0353Brunches are normally an overdose of food, but with very few things palatable. Fortunately the Sunday brunch at Pavilion75 at WelcomHotel Dwarka is refreshingly different. It is not only competitively priced; some of the dishes are worth driving down from Gurgaon to Dwarka.

live music
The new property of ITC has a modern feel with high ceilings, glass covered pillars and offers live peppy music to forget the Monday Blues (may be partially for some).  The flash mob gigs on Hindi songs by the staff, simple quiz with prizes to be won, kept me entertained while I sipped on fresh watermelon juice before switching on to the Prosecco.

chaat counter
The juice counter, candy floss for kids, chaat counter, salad and cheese counters apart from Oriental and Indian selection all are limited but made well. And one does not need more than this and the live egg and pizza stations for a heavy brunch.

paneer khajur ki chop
I start with murgh chapli kebab and paneer khajur ki chop. Given an option I could finish my entire meal on the refreshing and light paneer-khajur ki chop that is light and accompanied with thick mint chutney, much to my liking. Do try the sunheri veg kebab too if it is repeated. Golgappas are as usual and it is difficult to replicate street flavours not only here but in most star properties.

egg benedict
I ask for egg Benedict that perhaps is not in the menu but staff instead of refusing tried their best to get it for me. And here is where they slip. The egg yolks are over cooked, it is not serve on English muffin, and it is served without the ham. Unsurprisingly it goes back as it is from my table. The nice crusty pizzas helps in the service recovery before I move on to oriental section to try sliced tenderloin done in chilly sauce and Poisson Ala Popiatts (juliens of vegetables wrapped in thin slice of fish). Ah, I love them both and even baked broccoli and mushroom.

mutton biryani
By then I have moved to another glass of sparkling, and I switched to the Indian selection. This is where the ITC has expertise and Pavilion 75 does not disappoint at all. Lamb paya is delicious, while I go for repeat fills of mutton biryani inspite of not being a biryani fan. This mutton biryani can make anyone a diehard fan. The aroma, the juices, and the mutton quality, all three create a fusion which makes Biryani so popular in India but only few know how to replicate. My wife enjoys her arbi palak ki sabji and qasare-pukhtan (cottage cheese cubes cooked in gravy of raw papaya and tomatoes). It is my first time when I eat paneer cooked in raw papaya which is normally used as a tenderiser for heavy meats.

dessert
Dessert selection pales a little in front of the Indian selection, but after a great buffet meal (that itself is such a paradox), I cannot complain. I finish my meal with a piece of baklava and jalebi with rabri, promising to come back for another round of biryani. Soon!
