Too many of us sit on our butts, complaining and moaning, cursing the darkness, instead of lighting a candle.
But FOTM reader Grace is not one of the do-nothing whiners.
On Thursday, June 6, 2013, Grace was one of about a dozen protesters who held a rally against the Gang of 8 immigration reform amnesty bill S744, in front of California Democrat Sen. Barbara Boxer’s office in downtown Riverside before meeting with Boxer staff members. Boxer favors an immigration-system overhaul that includes a path to citizenship amnesty for many of the estimated 11 million illegal aliens in the U.S.
There is disagreement on the effect that legalization would have on U.S. citizens and legal residents, and on the overall economy. About 22 million Americans are either unemployed, want a job but have stopped looking, or are working part-time because they can’t find a full-time job. Furthermore, Heritage Foundation has a study that shows S 744 will cost already beleaguered taxpayers at least $6.3 trillion over the lives of the illegal aliens given amnesty, should the bill becomes law. But Boxer paradoxically insists that “by creating a real path to citizenship, we will increase wages for workers, lift families out of poverty, and provide a boost for our economy – increasing GDP by $1.5 trillion and creating up to 900,000 new jobs over a decade.”
In an email to FOTM, Grace writes:
“In a follow up post you asked for info & pics from yesterday’s rally & meeting, so here they are. We had a decent turnout considering mid-day, mid-week when a lot of folks would otherwise be at work. There was a surprisingly strong show of support from passers by considering the 65+% Hispanic/illegal demographic of the area here!

In the next photo, the patriots took a copy of the Senate Immigration Bill S744 with them — all 1,000 pages that consumed 1½ black-ink printer cartridges. As of June 5, 2013 – in a matter of a couple of weeks – the bill has doubled in size to nearly 2,000 pages. So the copy of the bill you see in the photo below should actually be doubled in size to equal the current size the S 744.
