... it has, what seems like a lifelong journey, to be happy with who I am and to not compromise on what I want from my life in order to be 'liked' by people. It is easier said than done though, isn't it?
How can you be whatever you intend to be when you continuously feel the pressure of expectations. How can you make independent life choices when others are pinning their happiness with your decisions. Or when you feel forced to change your path in the name of safety, security or diplomacy.
I constantly find myself walking the thin line between being myself and still being socially acceptable. Sometimes, I think I better get a placard around my neck which says, "I am not a bitch, I just like doing what I want to do, y'know?" In fact, in my next life I want to be born as Larry David (or at least a stand-up comedian!) and say whatever the hell comes to my mind. Life would be so much easier. And fun. No?
