Gossamer: noun 1. A fine, filmy substance made of cobwebs, used to refer to something very light, or delicate. 2. The heavily anticipated sophomore album from electropop band, Passion Pit (@passionpit).
The band probably couldn’t have picked a more appropriate name for their second album; Gossamer prominently features elaborate, shimmering layers of sparkling, airy synths and delicate falsettos, paired with upbeat snares and cymbals. Unfortunately, though, Passion Pit has had to cancel a number of dates at the beginning of their sporadic worldwide tour in order for vocalist/keyboardist Michael to take some time to improve his mental health and ensure there are no further disruptions. You can read the special message he wrote and view tour dates on the band’s Facebook and website. Gossamer is out July 24th on Columbia. Until then, you can listen to the album streaming in its entirety over at NPR.
