Partisan Politics Rules Washington
The Republicans have refused to cooperate or compromise with President Obama since the day he was sworn in. The Republicans claim it is because they have an honest difference of opinion, but that is a lie. They met right after his election, and for purely political (and probably racist) purposes, they agreed that they would oppose and try to obstruct everything the president tried to do.
The chart above shows the general public understands this. About 77% believe the failure to compromise in Washington for the good of the country is due to partisan politics -- only 14% think it is due to an honest difference of opinion. This belief is the primary reason for the extremely low approval rating of Congress.
The chart was made from a recent Rasmussen Poll -- done on January 7th and 8th of a random national sample of 800 likely voters, with a 3.5 point margin of error.
