Orange County Courthouse: Paoli, Indiana
Placed on the National Register of Historic Places way back in 1975, it’s a stunning example of Greek Revival architecture.
Tall white columns and white brick…well, it’s just really neat.
Don’t just take my word for it though–this amazing Indiana courthouse has appeared in magazines all over the place, including a little magazine you may know called “Life!” How about that!
It’s also supposed to be one of only two courthouses that have been in use continuously. Think about that for a minute…in constant use for well over 150 years! Think of all the Indiana history this one has witnessed.

Walking around the grounds around the courthouse, you can’t miss the cannon! At least, our boys certainly made a beeline for it.
Presented to the county by the government in 1903, the cannon serves as a memorial to those who died in the war…from 1861-1865! See? I told you this was a neat one!
The cannon itself was made in 1861 and weighs 8,568 lbs. Wowza.

Built back in 1850, it has survived a town fire and two tornadoes–in the space of a couple of years! Paoli has had a heck of a time lately but they are working on sprucing up and coming back better than ever. This will be a town to watch.
I can’t wait to see what they do next. As the saying goes, “They don’t make ‘em like they used to!” which can definitely apply to the amazing Orange County Courthouse. Pop over and check it out.
