Murghab to Karakul Lake {130km, 2h ride (4h to and fro) Approx. 3,915 meters / 12,844 feet}. En way, you’ll see the beautiful waters and bleak surroundings of this high-altitude lake. As you rise, be prepared for colder temperatures.
Road Conditions: Rugged and unpaved; difficult owing to height and climate.
Few restaurants; some in Murghab and close to Karakul Lake.
Toilets: There aren’t many, so be ready.
Limited number of Petrol stations; fill up at Murghab.
Sary-Tash, just before the Kyrgyzstan border, and Karakul Lake, a breathtaking high-altitude stop, are break points.
Day-7
Ak-Baital Pass to Osh: 350km, 7h ride.
Approximately 4,655 meters (15,270 ft) up, the Ak-Baital Pass, the highest point on the Pamir Highway, offers beautiful vistas and presents a substantial challenge because of the extremely high altitude.
Travel from Karakul Lake to Osh, momentarily leaving Tajikistan and entering Kyrgyzstan. A historic city with a bustling bazaar and historic sites is Osh.

Osh to Dushanbe (662km, 13h ride): Start your return trip to Dushanbe by entering Tajikistan once more. As you go back over the memorable experiences, consider them. Rugged riders can cover the stretch in a day. But I would prefer a break and will suggest you cover it in two days.
