Okay first of all this isn’t a review. Black City came in as #10 for the OVEREXPOSED BOOK 2012. To know more about the overexposed thing, click here.
Although it just came out last month, I’ve seen so many reviews of Black City and most of them were positive. The cover looks very intriguing, and I like the idea of how the flower is breaking away into tiny pieces. But then it also looks like a feather..? o.O  I haven’t read it yet, but I’ll definitely be reading it this 2013. The whole Darklings thing sounds mysterious, but I read a couple of reviews and some reviews stated that it kind of resembles Twilight? This is what people had to say…

PEOPLE WHO ENJOYED IT..
“This is one of those books that will leave a lasting impression. Yes, Black City is the series to watch. It has everything for hungry dystopian, post-apocalyptic, paranormal and romance lovers.” – Book Whales

“Elizabeth Richards’ highly original post-war love story, Black City, tells the remarkable story of forbidden love between two sixteen-year-olds from opposite sides. Living in a world where Darklings and humans are separated, worries and stress between the two races remain fresh as the days during the war.” – Jean Book Nerd

“The writing in this book was terrific, especially in regards to the characters and the construction and descriptions of the world and society. I loved the prose and how authentic everything felt even though a lot of it was so fantastical.” – The Readers Heartstring

“I love the two leads relationship. Ash and Natalie. I found their love/hate relationship addictive. I loved the fact it switched between the two characters. I never got tired of reading the scenes between these characters! Elizabeth takes you to a place that challenges your imagination wit forbidden love and screams at you through the page…..literally.” – Dark-Readers

PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T LIKE IT SO MUCH..
“too much violence: there were a lot of deaths – murders in fact – that didn’t seem necessary. Maybe the author wanted to shock, and she did to an extent, but it all seemed kind of forced, without specific reason. Innocent and guilty, humans and darklings, the violence expressed by some characters didn’t seem to have any boundaries.” – Elia

“Unfortunately, it fails to deliver, and generally gives the impression of Twlight in a more interesting setting. One major parallel between Twilight and Black City is the problematic romance. It is insta-love.” – Briana

” I felt the characters of Ash and Natalie were a little shallow and undeveloped. They both seemed incredibly flippant. Within just a few chapters it felt like they were declaring their love for each other and flipping anyone off who stood in their way. It was jarring and inorganic. They were telling us as readers that they were deeply in love with each other, but I just couldn’t see it.” – YA Reads
