Having your school colors be red and black makes it very difficult to wear such a classic color combo without feeling like you should be on your way to a football game when you leave home....

Red and black remind me of my mom, she used to say she only wore black with the occasional red item. Thankful things have changed since the early 2000's and the women is now in lots of color! She was maybe on to something though, I love the way black and red complement each other making the other stand out. Red seeming a little righter and black seeming not as dark and gloomy (not that I am opposed to that!).
This vest is from Gap a few years ago, when I saw it on their winter line I knew I had to have it but also knew I could wait until it went on sale (one of those randomly higher priced Gap items). Thankful Houston has two amazing Gaps (outside of malls) that I made my rounds to checking up on the status of the beautiful alpaca wool vest until the fateful day it was made mine. Going with the grey, and trying to move away from the "OWU spirit" look I added my super warm steve madden thigh high socks.
