You may want to link to a site that publishes multiple niche topics. You may find it confusing to link to a site which has overlap content. There is no harm in doing that as long as the page you are connecting to is related to your niche.

Majestic is the place where you can find the trust flow of the site you are linking to. You can check the topical trust flow of the domain. This will help you find out in that the site if following which niche. You may find many websites which are in multiniche.

What I want to say is that there is no harm in linking to a multiniche site as long as the page you are connecting to is according to your niche or the major part of the site is similar to your niche.

Relevancy:

When linking to a blog page or site, you need to understand the importance of relevancy. It is always good to link to the page similar to your blog post. Find the exact match page and then link to it.

This is also important for better user experience. Linking to the external page also tells that what you post is all about.

Links Display the legitimacy of your site:

When you link to other sites, it tells that you are into spamming or creating value. When you keep linking to the spammy sites, it will also drag your site in the list of spammy sites.

You should stay away from link communities.

Standard sites have less spammy links as compared to spam link building sites.

Negative of outbound links:

You should understand the linking patterns of regular and spam sites. Where spam sites keep filling the site with spammy links, normal sites hardly link to any spammy site.

I recommend you to create a blog or website with standard outbound links. Also, make sure that the sites you are linking to have quality links.

Do not fall in love with spammy outbound links.

Remember that low-quality sites build links to normal websites, but regular sites should not build links to low-quality sites.

Focus on the quality of the sites you are linking to. Quality of your content and backlinks is also outstanding. It is also essential to understand what type of sites other sites are linking to.

Linking to .edu and .gov:

It is valuable only when the site you are linking to is a helpful resource to your visitors. There as a time when it was the thinking that linking to .gov and .edu sites will give your content value and people were blindly following this practice.

But, things have changed with the time.

Now linking to only authentic and genuine sites can help you.

This is the era of better user experience.

You should only add outbound links if your content and links can improve your visitor's experience.
