Our Friend, Your Friend, Is Back With New Music [Stream]

Early last year Taryn Miller, aka Your Friend, released her first EP, Jekyll/Hyde, and it quickly became one of my go-to spins. Miller writes songs that permeate, perhaps because they echo the internal state so decidedly. Bedding melodies gently amidst varying tensions that sometimes lull and sometimes build, the resulting balance is soothing in its reflection of our shared intrinsic chaos. “Tame One” was in my top ten last year, and if you haven’t heard it, I urge you to right now. After touring with Courtney Barnett, Miller headed to Brooklyn to record her first full-length with Nicolas Vernhas (Deerhunter, The War On Drugs), focusing this time on “textures” and a “more sonically meditative landscape”.
