Australian designers Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton were at London Fashion Week on Friday evening showcasing their sass & bide Autumn Winter 2013 collection, with ORLY on hand creating the final look.
Hailing from Australia, it’s no surprise that sass & bide’s instantly wearable collection entitled ‘Wintergate’, brought around an optimism for the winter months with bursts of color. Subtle colours of dove grey, black and white clashed with touches of futuristic metallics and eye-popping daffodil yellow bringing the joy of summer back and creating an eye-catching focal point. Strategically laser cut detail, intricate beading and mirror embellishment were true to their strong, signature look, and these texture clashes followed through from the clothes to the nails.
sass & bide’s collection is one of opposites, all about transformation and counterbalances. The models nails’ stood out on the catwalk against the muted tones. Sabrina Gayle led the ORLY nail team who created the glittering stand out look using ORLY’s Haute Red layered with Rockets Red Glare (from ORLY’s new Flash Glam FX collection) over the top for a sparkling textured finish.
How to get the sass & bide nail look according to head manicurist Sabrina Gayle
1. File your nail to a round finish, and gently buff to create a matte surface for the polishes to adhere to smoothly
2. Use ORLY’s Cuticle Therapy Cream to soften your cuticles, then gently push back. Make sure you nip away any hang nail from the cuticle and side walls as they produce their own natural oils, which could lead to lifting and chipping of the polish. Squeak the nails clean with a little nail polish removing any excess oil left on the nail plate
3. Apply ORLY's Prime Time (chip preventing primer) - now you are ready to paint
4. Apply one layer of ORLY’s Bonder base coat before painting on two coats of Orly Haute Red (tip: always drag the polish to the free edge sealing the nail which will make your manicure last longer. Do this with your base and top coat too)
5. Apply ORLY’s Rockets Red Glare on top of your semi dry Haute Red polish (we went for 2 coats of glitter to get the Dorothy's Ruby Red Slipper look)
6. Apply ORLY's Polishield Top Coat which will give you a super glossy finish
7. Waiting for just a minute you can then apply ORLY’s Flash Dry Drops to speed up the drying time of your polish (remember this means that your nails will be touch dry so you have to be extra careful for at least 15-20 minutes as glitter always takes that little bit longer to fully dry)
