Today is the opening event for the MA art exhibition at the University of Central Lancashire and if you get the chance, do go along to the event tonight. There are plenty of studio-based students working in a variety of media exhibiting alongside a handful of site and archive intervention artists who are exhibiting their public art projects as part of the MA show.
One of these artists Andy Greenacre is hosting an exhibition-within-an-exhibition, a collaboration show entitled Retrieval Cue, which is held on the first floor of the Hanover building at the University of Central Lancashire. His artwork has been published as a book (Retrieval Cue is now available to buy on Blurb.co.uk) and the exhibition details the collaboration between the audience – the ‘donor’ of a memory – and the artist. A memory anecdote is written and the artist creates an artwork in reaction to the donor’s story. The pieces on display are a variety of photography and installation of artifacts. I am looking forward to seeing this exhibition this evening as well as a sound-piece artwork by Preston-based artist David Henckel.
