It’s going to be an exciting year for Florida Prepaid. More than 460,000 students have gone to college using Florida Prepaid Plan benefits, including my two oldest children, who graduated from college debt-free thanks to these amazing plans. My two high-school kids are on their way to doing the same thing. So, how could Florida Prepaid get even better in 2019—and what does this mean for your family?
Open Enrollment: February 1 through April 30, 2019
First, the Open Enrollment period has moved to February through April. This means that your family has time to recover from your holiday spending before signing up for a plan. If you’ve got a tax refund coming, you can also file early and use it to get started on your Florida Prepaid plan. Spring is a time of new beginnings, and there’s no better way to launch the season than to get started on helping your child afford a college education.
Pay No Application Fee: February 1 through March 2, 2019
And there’s more good news! Sign up between February 1–March 2, 2019, and Florida Prepaid will waive the $50 application fee! This is to celebrate Florida Prepaid’s recent 30th anniversary, making them one of the largest and longest-running prepaid programs in the nation. Unlike many states, The Florida Prepaid program is thriving, and more than 1 million families have purchased Florida Prepaid College Plans.

Prices Are the Same as Last Year
Amazingly, prices this year have stayed the same as last year! If you didn’t get around to signing up last year, don’t lose another minute. This year’s a great time to do so. You can sign up when your child is a newborn or even through 11th grade. The earlier you sign up, the lower the monthly cost. But no matter when you start, you’ll be getting a headstart on paying for your child’s education. Plans begin at just $47 a month.
Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing more information about the Florida Prepaid program and their college plans, but let me just say up front that I strongly support this program and recommend it to all the parents I know. Higher education is expensive, and many families stress about how they’re going to be able to afford to send their children to college without incurring debt. But the Florida Prepaid program has taken this stress away for our family. It’s a wonderful feeling! I hope you’ll join me in learning more about the many flexible Florida Prepaid plans and signing up.
