Tears flowed freely on Friday, as the remains of Akinola Elumide, Former NABUSS President 16/17 at Federal Polytechnic Ede and Press Officer At Ooni Palace, Ile-Ife was reported slipped while bathing on August 22, 2018, was finally laid to rest.
An emotional tribute service which started as early as 11:00am, saw family members, friends and well wishers of the departed young man pour out in droves to bid him farewell.
Sources said the late press officer shouted from bathroom and did not make it to Hospital.
According to the statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity to Ooni, Comrade Moses Olafare, said that: "My dear Akinola Elumide Babatunde, You are a colleague, friend and brother, I will forever value even though you are no more with us.
" The history of our success in the MEDIA office of the PALACE is incomplete without an emphatic reference to you, especially from January this year when you joined US.
"Your untimely death is being felt so painfully and sorrowfully for you have left us too suddenly. But we are consoled by the hugeness of the goodwill such a very young man like you greatly had exhibited while on this earth as well attested to by all.
"May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace as I pray the Almighty Olodumare shall uphold your aged parents and siblings and give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss your sad death has brought. We we all miss you my BOY."
In glowing words, mourners at the event paid tributes to the victim who many described as very charming and promising.
A sibling to late Elumide, said even though the family is in mourning, they are consoled by the good life he lived and impact he made during his sojourn on earth.
"Very simplistic, you've never been the kind to take things too seriously and your smile is from ear to ear.
Keeping malice with you was futile, you'd always find a way to break the ice...never one to hold grudge.
"Mide, in your short years on earth, you've connected us with so many people and your death has brought reconciliation...you are indeed a special one," she said while paying homage to his late brother.
Confirming the sad news also, the Student Union Elected president Cmrd Siwes issued an official statement to NAIJAPARY where he expressed bitterness and shock over the sudden demise.
