Only 6 Of 10 People Think Votes Are Accurately Counted
It seems that 62% of Americans believe that votes are counted accurately in our elections -- which means that 38% doubt the accuracy of vote counting. Those who doubt the accuracy the most are Republicans. Only half of them (50%) are confident that votes are accurately counted. Democrats have a much more positive view. Over three-fourths (77%) of them are confident that votes are counted accurately. Independents are between those two extremes, with 59% saying votes are accurately counted.
Oddly enough though, about 81% of the public says the votes are counted accurately at the facility where they vote. It's just the votes at other facilities that they have a problem accepting. It would seem that their attitude is being colored by stories they hear in the media or from politicians.
The chart was made from a recent Gallup Poll -- done on August 15th and 16th of a random national sample of 1,013 adults, and has a margin of error of 6 points.
