One Year Ago, My Heart Returned Home

By Samantha Curtis @hooahandhiccups
It's hard to believe it's been a year since I sat in the gym, anxiously awaiting the arrival of my husband and the hundreds of other soldiers returning home from a year long tour in Afghanistan.
I twiddled my thumbs, held back the tears, and couldn't fight the ear to ear smile on my face. After holding my husband in my heart for 281 days, I would finally hold him in my arms.
I can't describe the feelings or emotions I felt that day, or the sense of accomplishment for surviving a deployment; pregnant, none the less. I was extremely proud of him, myself, and our relationship. We had grown even closer than we were before he left, and our family would finally be whole again.
I'll let these pictures and video speak for themselves. Words just don't do it justice :)
