Day 29 Dressember/DAREcember – Flowers
“I find one vast garden spread out all over the universe.
All plants, all human beings, all higher mind bodies
are about in this garden in various ways ,
each has his own uniqueness and beauty.
Their presence and variety give me great delight.
Every one of you adds with his special feature to the glory of the garden.”
Sri Ananandamayi Ma
For a time about ten or so years ago, maybe more, it seemed like there were floral prints everywhere.
Sarah Jessica Parker was rather fond of florals and as we were, mostly to a woman, very fond of Carrie and Sex and the City, some of us chose to follow.
When I arrived in Sydney thirteen years ago office workers were clipping fresh frangipani into their hair. The sultry heat in March 2000 encouraged me to start wearing my secret SJP wannabe on my lapels, in long flowing floral frocks.
One or more of these frocks were almost transparent, light and gentle on summer skin.
Say what you like but Sex and the City fueled more than a few of our fashion obsessions – Charlotte’s Prada lipstick print skirt and the Roberto Cavalli seaweed sweater that caused the Good Fight
Aiden tells Carrie ’You never wear most of this.’ Carrie retorts in her brittle smart girl way ‘Yet. I never wear most of this stuff yet. Some day I will.’
When is some day?
Some day comes virtue of the style blog style challenges like the September Dare of the Week (Flowers). I have rather liked having a reason to wear things that I don’t normally wear – if it hasn’t been worn for a year it will be turfed or donated or flogged on. Harder still is trying to find time to blog about the challenges. I have included a gallery with the highlights from Flower Dare week as well as today’s DAREcember floral frock.
