One Step Forward, Two Steps Back.

By Gray Eyed Athena @grayeyedowl

I gained FOUR POUNDS last week while on Ativan, Seroquel, and a single night of Remeron.  Typically this news would send me into a deep funk, but I think I’m already there so it’s just water under the bridge.

I will not be taking more meds until I see my new psychiatrist April 3.  Until then, I am resigned to my routine of not sleeping and I will focus all efforts on losing the pounds gained this week, plus a couple more.  I have to end March with a small loss (at the very least) to feel even remotely good about myself.  I am hopeful that the weight I put on this week has more to do with an upset schedule and quickly consumed calories than with stored fat… that would be difficult to get rid of quickly.

My trend with weight loss has definitely been two steps forward (losing weight) and one step back (gaining a pound) before moving on down the scale.  This past week was certainly more than one step back, but I know it can be overcome.  I started off this morning properly with my supplements and a mug of black tea.  Here’s my meal plan for the day:

Lunch:  Chicken breast (128), string cheese (60), cherry tomatoes (15), mango (67) = 270 calories

Snack:  Minneola tangelo (70) = 70 calories

Dinner:  Sauteed baby spinach  (90), shiitake mushrooms (40), cherry tomatoes (11), bok choy (50), olive oil (40) = 231 calories

Total = 570 calories.  Can I keep it this low?  Let’s find out.  I should have had my bulletproof coffee this morning (250) to get my metabolism going because I’ve noticed that I lose more weight and more quickly when I keep my caloric intake up at 800.  Tomorrow morning’s weigh-in will be the tell-all.
