Happy Monday, trend lovers! Nude “mannequin” nails make their return in 2012 with the emphasis being to closely match one’s skin tone (thus, the term mannequin hands). So what’s the idea behind this popular nail trend? By “blending together” the color of your hands and nails, you elongate your fingers. An added bonus? This color goes with any color or style of attire. (So it’s literally the perfect nail trend as anyone, any skin tone, or outfit can don it.) Personally, the idea of mannequin-esque hands freaks me out a bit. Perhaps because I consider my skin tone to be a little “pasty” and boring. But hey, I’ll try anything once — especially in the name of fashion — so bring on the flesh-toned polish. (If only my complexion could mimic that of a mannequin’s – my large pores, blemishes, and dull skin would be elated.)
Okay trendsetters, who’s ready to rock a mannequin manicure? Then head to your nearest beauty store and find a shade that closely matches your skin tone. Ones to consider:
Sephora by O.P.I ., Going Nude, Eh? $9.50
Essie Nail Polish, Like Linen $8.00
Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamel, Bare Bones $6.79
Now go show those perfectly coiffed mannequins at Barny’s who’s fashion boss, polish enthusiasts, and display your ever-so-trendy mannequin hands with confidence…
