One Item, Five Fashionable Ways: Five Wrap Dress Outfits

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

wrap dress outfits In today’s “One Item, Five Fashionable Ways”, I am featuring Dobbin’s Carson Stretch Ponte Faux Wrap Dress in their Midnight Blue Chain print.  I chose to make five wrap dress outfits using this piece for a variety of reasons.

First, if you’re a working woman who is not familiar with Dobbin you should be.  Dobbin started with a simple idea: a line of fashionable staples, tailored to fit and flatter grown-up bodies, using the best Italian fabrics, and manufactured here in the USA.  They also knew they wanted to keep prices under $200 without sacrificing quality, so they set out to sell exclusively online, where they could cut out the middle-man and pass the savings to their customers.  Dobbin means “workhorse”, and that is how this company expects you to use their clothing, as the workhorses of your wardrobe.

Second, the are a few reasons I chose this particular Dobbin dress. While many women love the idea of a wrap dress, few feel comfortable wrapping them or that they’re getting enough coverage.  I chose the navy print because I want to show how a navy dress can be just as versatile as a black dress, even in a print.

As I do every week in this series, I will show you five different ways to wear this one dress, which is right in line with the Dobbin philosophy.  If you follow this series regularly, you will also see that I use pieces from prior weeks with the additional goal to show you how to maximize everything in you may have in your closet.  For more information on all the looks below, click the images.

Okay, now on to the looks!

A color I love with navy is orange.  Worn here with a bright orange necklace and orange handbag, the fun color can be brought in in a sophisticated manner.

Another color that works well with navy is green.  Emerald green is such a popular color at the moment and here I used a green handbag, which I’ve used in past weeks and chose a pair of green hoops.  Green is a color  that will always get you a ton get a mileage.  Lastly, a blazer, like a white one, is a great summer way to finish this outfit, professionally.

If you’re looking to add color to a dress like this but don’t want to go too bold, a soft buttery yellow is a great option.  With just a simple pair of earrings and a yellow pair of slingbacks with a moderate heel, the look is finished without distracting from the dress.

You can also keep this outfit tonal without making it boring.  Here I chose a tan bag and shoes and chose a bold necklace in navy.  The look remains interesting while remaining monochromatic.

Pink is another color that works beautifully with navy, and can add some soft, professional finishes to this dress.  When using pink for work, when you want to be taken seriously, it is important to choose pieces that aren’t too frilly or girly, like the pieces used here.
