Life in New York City this past weekend was like living on the sun. Seriously, could it have been any hotter? Inspired by the scorching temperatures, and unable to think about anything other than wearing the least amount of clothes outdoors as possible, I chose to create summer dress outfits for this week’s, “One Item, Five Fashionable Ways.”
This dress from Mango is a great example of an easy, breezy dress that you can wear on the hottest of hot days and still look stylish, no matter what your plans are for the day.
If you want to get more from less of the clothing you already own, an effective method is to create multiple looks from one item. In doing so you, with a few changes, you will be able to use one item in all of the different areas of your life. What can be worn casually can also be dressed up and vice versa. The secret to successfully transforming an outfit lies in the accessories you pair with your clothes. Look at the examples below to see how I styled one dress five different ways. I also like to use this blog series to pull accessorizing pieces from past posts in order to demonstrate how to get maximum use from everything you already have in your closet.
Okay, now let’s take a look at some outfits using this summer dress.

With metallic accessories and flat sandals, this dress is ready for dressy, casual plans with friends. You stay cool and look cool at the same time.

For a softer, yet dressier look, I swapped out a pair of flats for a pair of wedges. The outfit is still cool and casual, yet is ready for a fun night out.
Look #3

For a day of walking, a comfortable pair of sandals and a cross body bag depicts comfort without sacrificing style.
Look #4

For super-casual you can still look stylish. Pulling out the prominent prints in the dress, a simple pair of flip flops and a functional, yet stylish backpack and rope bracelet render this dress errand-friendly.
Look #5

You can never go wrong with metallic accessories, even in bronze. This pair of wedges gives you some height, yet remains casual and comfortable. The look gets elevated with a pair of decorative chandelier earrings, which can be added to take the dress from day to evening.
