In my previous post about designing a logo for the Harvey Mercheum, I mentioned that I used the “Gill Sans MT Condensed” font. I should have mentioned that this is how it appears on my computer, which is running Windows. Further research indicates that this is the “Gill Sans Condensed” font as produced by the Monotype Imaging Holdings type foundry. Gill Sans was designed by English sculptor, printmaker and typeface designer Eric Gill, as mentioned in this post on Shorpy: Ad Man West: 1954.
