I like summer just as much as any other person… but Autumn is the time of year I look forward to most. Autumn means cosy knits, onesies, hot chocolate and yummy darker nail color A/W ranges. Que the ‘Modern Glamour Colour Collection’ from Max Factor… each shade is apparently a modern twist on classic colours that defined fashion make-up throughout the decades. The excitement I had when I received this collection to try out!!! I just think they’re gorgeous staple colours every girl should own in lovely intense shades. A mixture of 1950’s reds, 70’s blues, 80’s brights and 90’s shades of burgundy.
Straight away I picked out a favourite, the deep burgundy Sheen Merlot. SWOON. It’s the perfect ultra-dark jewel tone that adds instant old school glamour, I’ve literally had it on every day since I got the collection. FYI it lasted a good four days without chipping and with minor wear on the tips which is pretty impressive. Sparkling Berry is also rather gorgeous, a deep red with a slightly bluish tone. If super siren reds are your thing, Radiant Ruby is for you. Or if you’d prefer a scarlet 1950’s pin-up shade then check out Patent Poppy. I normally don’t like orange shades because I’m pale and it washes me out, but Vivid Vermillion is actually quite a lovely dark coral.
As you can see from the above photos, there’s more from the ‘Modern Glamour’ collection than sultry reds, vibrant pinks and dark corals. Glazed Cobalt is one of my favorite blue nail colours ever, it’s super pigmented and only needed two coats for perfect coverage. Lacquered Violet also rocks, it’s a warmer blue with purplish hues that’s girly and very in for the AW14 season. However I am not a huge fan of Gleaming Teal, I just think it’s a bland mossy greens but each to their own.
All the polish range are high shine and intensely pigmented. All in all, a lovely range – well done Max Factor! If you want to get your hands on any of the new Max Factor ‘Modern Glamour’ collection then you can pick them up in most pharmacies nationwide for around €10.39 (RRP)! What’s your favorite shade, will you be trying any of this range out yourself?
