If you’re familiar with the type of music we tend to feature, you’d know we very rarely focus on instrumental music. Not for lack of beauty, but mostly due to personal music taste, instrumental music rarely resonated with me the way that strong vocals do. But times and again I come across artists that transcend that, artists so incredibly talented that all my preconceived notions of what I like are thrown out the window. Ólafur Arnalds is one such artist. The Icelandic pianist joined us at Let ‘Em In Music for our latest Buzzsession where they performed “Old Skin” (which does have vocals) and “Only The Winds”. ‘Buzzsessions’ is a live session series made by The Wild Honey Pie. With each new episode, we travel with a different band to a different part of New York City and record sometimes-intimate/sometimes-wild versions of two or three songs.
