Odd is Good.

So it snowed some more last night, and yes today I shoveled again, which I partially did just so I could get my newspaper without getting drenched in snow. I can't wait to be living in a warmer climate again! Give me at last three years and then it's hello San Diego once more. hey, third time is the charm right? I certainly hope so. I watched this very delightful film called The Odd Life of Timothy Green which was produced by Disney, and actually kind of reminded me of the old school films that the media company used to make before they got all crappy; perhaps they're actually turning over a new leaf, which is ironic considering this film. Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton star in the film as two parents attempting to conceive a child of their own, but are unsuccessful. On a hot summer night, something strange happens and Timothy comes to them, who is played by CJ Adams. Timothy in a way helps his new parents learn what it means to be essentially parents, and that not being perfect is okay, or conforming to other people's expectations; to be what one desires to be. I'm giving it a "Strong Ability." It was a fantastic, heartfelt film which I usually abhor, but this one wasn't your typical, at least I felt, happy go lucky film. There was humor, serious drama, warm fuzziness, and some stuff that made you think. I'd say that ain't too shabby. Definitely recommend this film for everyone, and yes it would make a great family film. Oh I read a gaff in the newspaper the other day about how a Chicago court "accidentally" released a convicted murder during a scheduled hearing, or while he was being transferred from Indiana. Doesn't really inspire a lot of confidence in the judicial system, especially for a city with a huge crime and death rate. Actor in a Leading Role: Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook), Joaquin Phoenix (The Master), Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln), Denzel Washington (Flight), and Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables). Okay this is a no brainer, just as when Meryl Streep received the Oscar last year for The Iron Lady; Daniel Day-Lewis will get it, and I choose him as well. The whole choosing other nominees and so forth is just a formality. His performance as Abraham Lincoln was beyond astounding, and I think everyone who has seen the film would agree with me. All of the other nominees did great I am certain, but I believe I can confidently state that Daniel Day-Lewis has got this one in the bag; all he needs to do is show up.
