October 2011 Clean Energy and Sustainability EventsAs we mentioned earlier this week, the 21st annual Solar Tour is taking place throughout the Washington DC area. This is one of several events in and around the nation’s capital. Check out the 2nd Green Revolution’s calendar for more information. The big annual event in the green building industry, Greenbuild, takes place early in the month up in Toronto. There are a few other conferences taking place in Canada, including “Moving Business Toward Sustainability” which is listed below.

There are several education based conferences as well this month. The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, which 2nd Green Revolution covered last year, takes place this month in Pittsburgh. In addition, the North American Association for Environmental Education is also holding its annual conference in October.

Greenbuild International Conference & Expo
When: Oct 4 – 7, 2011
Where: Toronto, Canada
Description: Greenbuild is the world’s largest conference and expo dedicated to green building. AASHE National Conference
When: Oct 9 – 12, 2011
Where: Pittsburgh, PA
Description: This year’s conference will highlight campus tours from Host Sponsors, community activities to get you acquainted with Pittsburgh, additional AASHE and partner workshops, keynotes, the AASHE EXPO and EXPO Reception, and much more! North American Association for Environmental Education 2011 Annual Conference
When: Oct 12 – 15, 2011
Where: Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
Description: Help NAAEE celebrate four decades \ of teaching people how to be more environmentally literate. Join more than 1,000 environmental educators from North America and abroad. Come two days early for overnight field experiences or the two-day Research Symposium. Or come one day early for Wednesday workshops or Wednesday Field Experiences. Stay one day later for a Sunday Field Experience.

International Greening Education Event
When: Oct 19 – 21, 2011
Where: Karlsruhe, Germany
Description: The International Greening Education Event brings together creative, enthusiastic and motivated practitioners from around the world to discuss the emerging issue of greening education. CONFERENCE: Moving Business Toward Sustainability
When: Oct 20 – 22, 2011
Where: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Description: This conference provides SME managers and CEOs an intensive and efficient forum for initiating – or advancing – their progress towards sustainability. It also provides a space for Canadian and international experts to take stock of the current knowledge about SME and sustainability and push forward the research agenda on these issues.
