The Antelope Valley chapters of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) have extended a cordial invitation to all candidates vying for council and mayoral positions in the City of Palmdale during this coming November 5th elections.
The candidates forum location takes place at the Chimbole Cultural Center-Joshua Room on
Wednesday, October 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
According to the Antelope Valley Branch-NAACP announcement, this particular forum differs from all previous ones in that it is intended to allow all candidates an opportunity to express their positions on issues impacting directly and specifically the Latino and African American residents of Palmdale.
Latinos comprise 55.4 percent of the Palmdale population, while African Americans comprise approximately 15 percent. Together, they comprise 70 percent of the total population of the city.
Anyone wishing to represent a city with this population should be well informed on the issues impacting these communities, according to the Antelope Valley Branch-NAACP announcement.
