The family of a girl who has been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy is inviting the public to a special fundraiser to help them with the medical costs.

Audrey Wendt Lugo was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy, a terminal disease that destroys the nerves controlling voluntary muscle movement. The family’s insurance does not cover most of the medical supplies needed to care for their daughter.

Join the family on Saturday, Oct. 26, for a fundraiser to help Audrey Wendt (Lugo), the daughter of Erica Lugo and Derek Wendt, the granddaughter of Michael Lugo and Joni Christensen-Lugo, and the niece of Lindsay Camarena and Tony Camarena.

Music will be provided by Latin Express, and the event takes place from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. at Viva Maria’s in Apple Valley, 20162 U.S. Highway 18.

Participants can purchase their lunch and enjoy the music together for a wonderful family from the community. Donations will be taken at the door to help the family.

A recent quote from her mom on Facebook states “Anything and Everything helps and is truly appreciated,” Audrey’s mother Erica was quoted on Facebook as saying. “Unfortunately, this recent hospitalization has set us back even further.”
