OCHO, the collaboration between Dublin’s Stace Gill and DOS, specializes in creepy electronic music, as evidenced by their latest release, Young Hunting. “Dateless Wonder Club”, “Spare Face”, and title track “Young Hunting” start out as melancholy piano ballads, but eventually morph their way into eerie, industrial electronica. Lofty, wistful lyrics and vocals and sweet synths are layered over sometimes sinister undertones. “Spin A Rope” incorporates more orchestral instrumentation, meanwhile, “The Turn” and “We Aren’t Even” are electro through and through. My favorite track off Young Hunting, however, would have to be the dramatic and unsettling cover of The Ronette’s “Be My Baby”. Kind of Baroque, but kind of techno, this track is really good despite the unexpected pairing. You can listen for yourself; Young Hunting was released back in May and is available to stream above and purchase on iTunes. Don’t forget to like OCHO on Facebook and follow them on Twitter!
