Iraq is spiraling into anarchy and civil war.
The Iraqi government has all but collapsed, its 300,000 troops fleeing their posts in the face of advances by the brutal ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) militants who are fast advancing on the capital Baghdad.
In response, Iraq’s senior Shiite Muslim cleric broke years of support for the central government and issued a decree yesterday, calling on every able-bodied Shiite man to go to war against the Sunni ISIS. Thousands of Shiite Iraqis — many with militia experience from the sectarian war that pitted Sunnis against Shiites and killed thousands from 2006 to 2008 — are flooding the cities of Baghdad, Najaf and Karbala to receive weapons, enlist in organized units and receive their orders. Oil industry analysts are warning the turmoil in Iraq could reduce the flow of Iraqi crude and send gas prices soaring in the United States.
Already, the price of crude oil has shot up to $107 per barrel – the highest in 10 months – on reports that ISIS militants had captured two towns northeast of Baghdad.
Oil industry analyst Phill Flynn said if Baghdad falls and the militants move further south, “the price you’re paying at the pump today is gonna look like a bargain in a couple weeks.” (Source: CBS Los Angeles)
Meanwhile, Russian tanks are rolling into Eastern Ukraine in support of the separatists.
U.S. State Department officials said a convoy of three Russian T-64 tanks, several BM-21 multiple rocket launchers and other military vehicles crossed the border near the Ukrainian town of Snizhne. (Source: New York Times)
Here in Amerika, an unprecedented tide of unaccompanied children and criminals are pouring across the MEXICAN border, at a rate of more than 35,000 into Texas alone.
The surge is expected to increase to up to 90,000 across the Southwest border by the end of the year. (Source: Los Angeles Times)
The human tidal wave of illegals pouring across the border is spurred by newspapers and television stations throughout Central America falsely reporting that amnesty will be theirs if they can just make it through the Mexican border — and that the time to do it is now.
But there hasn’t been a word from the White House or its agencies urging families in Honduras, Guatemala or El Salvador not to send their children alone through Mexico’s merciless badlands infested with cartel criminals to reach the U.S. Nor do U.S. embassy websites post warnings to Central Americans about not sending children north.
The National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, after 50,000 apprehensions of border crossers in south Texas, declared this week that the human tidal wave is orchestrated. The association said: “Certainly we are not gullible enough to believe that thousands of unaccompanied minor Central American children came to America without the encouragement, aid and assistance of the United States government.”
In a June 13, 2014 editorial, Investor’s Business Daily observes:
Not long ago, Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, a foe of illegal immigration, stated that based on evidence he’d seen and conversations he had with lawmen, there appeared to be an ongoing political campaign to destroy law enforcement at the border — something the former border agents called an effort to create “a failed state” on the border. If so, it’s a page straight out of the Cloward-Piven theory President Obama was so influenced by as a community organizer and at Columbia.
And what’s the POS’s response to all this?
Like Emperor Nero who fiddled while Rome burned, Barack Obama is off on another golf vacation while the world falls apart.
The POS at the Standing Rock (Sioux) Indian Reservation on Friday (June 13).
As CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller reports:
And yet, incredibly, as many as 45% of Americans in the latest Gallup Poll still regard the POS as “a strong and decisive leader,” 34% approve of his foreign policy, while 47% think he is “honest and trustworthy.” (H/t FOTM’s josephbc69)
