New York Daily News: The man wanted for attacking four Asian women in Manhattan may be a suicidal artist and blogger who’s confessed to the crimes — claiming that he’s playing a game called “Bash Asian Women in the Nose,” police sources said Thursday.
“I had to do it,” Tyrelle Shaw, 25, wrote on his blog “Mr. Talented.” The site is full of pictures of the lanky artist with celebrities like Russell Crowe, Ben Stiller, Tracy Morgan, “Fast and Furious” actor Paul Walker, who was killed in a crash in 2013, and television judge Judy Sheindlin.

“History needed my reaction towards Asian Women,” he wrote. Investigators want to question Shaw for four attacks that began on June 10, a high-ranking police source said.
In each case, a man tries to talk to an Asian woman, storms off then comes back and hits her in the head with a hard object wrapped in a plastic bag. None of his victims was seriously injured.
Cops were given Shaw’s name on Tuesday, police sources said. “We had been given his name by people who knew him and thought he was the one responsible for the attacks,” the source said. “In his blog, he pretty much confesses what he did.” Shaw remained at large Thursday morning.
In his blog, Shaw claimed he targeted Asian women for violence because they ignored his romantic overtures. “In less than 350 days, I talked to nearly 1,500 Asian Women and none of them took time out of their day to say hello,” he wrote in a post dated Wednesday. “I became furious. I never agreed with violence, but I knew the only way I could overcome that sense of rejection-would start by assaulting the women that carelessly rejected me.
“I assumed the ones that I am attracted to use cocaine, so I decided to play a game Bash Asian Women in the Nose so that they could stop sniffing cocaine and give me a chance,” he wrote. “At first I thought I could get away with 1 million noses.”
Shaw also admitted he was “infatuated with the idea of having an Asian wife and raising children” and had plans to kill himself because of all the attention he was receiving, according to the blog, which was first reported by The New York Times. “Inform NYPD they could stop searching for me because I’m going to commit suicide,” he wrote.

Shaw’s friends and family were left rattled by the confession — and his plans to end his life. “It’s overwhelming that someone who you know from 16-years-old grows up to be this monster,” said one woman, whose daughter dated Shaw when they were teenagers.
Shaw tried to rekindle his friendship with the woman’s daughter, but then said he was going to kill himself, she said. Shaw even sent the young woman a video of himself with a noose around his neck, she said.
“(My daughter’s) shook up. She can’t sleep,” the woman said. “I would not have expected this from him.”
