Nvidia Shield, the Android-based handheld gaming device, will ship July 31, according to an announcement on Nvidia’s website.
First announced at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, the handheld was originally slated to launch Thursday, June 27. However, it was delayed the day before its release due to a “mechanical issue.”
“Our goal has always been to ship the perfect product, so we made sure we submitted Shield to the most rigorous mechanical testing and quality assurance standards in the industry,” the post reads. “We built Shield because we love playing games, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”
The Shield is powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 4 chipset and runs Android titles; additionally, the handheld can stream PC software onto a TV. For more on the Nvidia Shield, check out our hands-on preview.
