The Department of Philosophy is looking to enhance its current research and teaching strengths and is seeking to appoint a candidate with demonstrable research and teaching excellence in the Philosophy of Science (broadly construed to include General Philosophy of Science, the philosophy of any specific science, and the Philosophy of Economics). The demonstrated ability to teach on topics in the History of Philosophy and/or Logic may also be an advantage.

The purpose of this role will be to lead and deliver individual and collaborative research and teaching in the Department of Philosophy, and make a contribution to the direction of research programmes in the School of Humanities. The post holder will develop new concepts and ideas and will be expected, where appropriate, to develop and win support for innovative research and/or teaching development proposals and funding bids.

The post holder will make a significant contribution to their academic unit via leadership and/or administrative management and/or co-ordination of specific initiatives.

This is full time post commencing 1st September 2015
