The Palmdale Sheriff’s Station Search and Rescue Team (SART) has been activated and responded to the area of Vincent Gap, Angeles National Forest, to look for two missing/ overdue hikers.

The missing persons went to the area Saturday afternoon, February 08, 2014, to go hiking. They were dropped off by a friend. When the friend returned to pick them up, they had not returned to the meeting point and he could not find them. There is very little information available about the hikers at this point, as their friend could only provide limited details. Deputies, Reserve Deputies, and volunteers are currently searching the area on foot. An aerial search will begin at daylight.

Search and Rescue Team members are Reserve Sheriff’s deputies who volunteer their time to help others for $1 a year, and who partner with sheriff’s civilian volunteers who volunteer for free. There are over 150 members of the eight Search and Rescue teams of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. These rescuers were activated for over 450 search and rescue missions last year, making it one of the most active counties for search and rescue missions in the nation. Reserve deputies and civilian volunteers are supervised by full-time Sheriff’s Deputies.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station. Palmdale Sheriff’s Station polices the City of Palmdale and the unincorporated communities of Acton, Agua Dulce, Leona Valley, Little Rock, Pearblossom and Vasquez Rocks in the Antelope Valley:
