Simply put, we have in North Korea, a psychopathic country ruled by a sick and evil psychopath. Lest we forget, the U.S. and North Korea are technically still in a state of war. The Korean War (1950-53) ended with a cease fire; there never was a peace treaty signed. Today, the U.S. still maintains a "forward presence" on the Korean peninsula, with 28,500 American soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines stationed in South Korea. H/t FOTM's joworth ~Eowyn
