Every year the Collings Foundation stops by here on their annual Wings of Freedom Tour. What made this year different was the addition of their new Mustang to the tour.  Delivered too late for World War II, this aircraft was one of 15 Mustangs converted to TF-51D twin seat/dual control TF-51D configuration by TEMCO under USAF contract, and was the last TF in Air Force service.  This fighter wears the markings of a West Virginia Air Guard, 167th Fighter Squadron, P-51 called “Toulouse Nuts.”  When the squadron first saw the TF-51, its pilots were proclaimed “two loose nuts behind the wheel,” hence the name.  Nikon D500 w/Tamron 150-600mm.
