The Geico Skytypers on the flight line at the Joint Service Open House and Air Show, held yearly at Andrews AFB since the 1950s, and biannually since 2012. The team operates the SNJ-2 version, the only model with the enlarged 180-gallon fuel tank that allows the Skytypers to “skytype” for more than four hours. The fastest in the SNJ series, only 61 SNJ-2’s were manufactured.  First flown in 1935, this iconic aircraft served in air forces around the world and finally retired from active duty in 1995 from the South African Air Force.
