North American Rockwell OV-10A Bronco@ Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport, Santa Rosa, CA

August 2012

The OV-10A was originally used in military counter-insurgency and close air-support roles before finding a new purpose in civilian life.  In 1993, CAL FIRE acquired 16 OV-10As from the Department of Defense and converted them for wildfire air attack use. The crew then directs CAL FIRE’s airtanker and helicopter pilots where to make their retardant and water drops.  Santa Rosa is home to one of CAL FIRE’s 13 airbases.
