P-51 warbird “Spam Can” at rest at the 2016 California Capital Airshow. This Mustang was delivered too late to see any action, and was surplused in 1957.  Owned by the Plane of Fame, “Spam Can” is one of the longest-serving civilian-owned P-51s. More than 8100 of the D-model were produced, contributing to the total of 15,000 Mustangs built for the war. After World War II, the P-51 Mustang served in the air forces of over 55 countries.  Nikon D7100 w/18-200mm.
