Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows Tablet – You’re Better Off With Surface 2

Posted on the 23 October 2013 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

Hours before Apple’s iPad Air unveiling event in San Francisco, Nokia flew all the way to Abu Dhabi to take the wraps off of a whole bunch of new devices including larger Lumia smartphones and company’s first tablet – Nokia Lumia 2520 that runs on Windows RT. I’m not sure if Nokia intended to compete against Apple or Microsoft with this new tablet, but it does have specs that matches Microsoft’s Surface 2. Even though, I still think Surface 2 is better than Nokia’s new tab, based on several reasons. Read along to find out.

It was a little odd seeing Nokia unveil a Surface rival tablet as Microsoft is already acquiring Nokia one part at a time. I guess they must have thought more Windows tabs, the better. Nevertheless, Nokia’s Lumia tablet poses a great threat to the Surface 2 as it comes packed with a 10-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, as same as Surface 2. And, an impressive 6.7-MP Auto Focus ZEISS optics camera on the back. Although the Surface 2 gets everything balanced thanks to its’ quad-core Tegra 4 processor over the 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor on Lumia 2520, which I highly doubt to be more powerful.

Nokia says that Lumia 2520 is “designed for mobility” as it offers great viewing in outdoors with better brightness and low reflectiveness. The company also offers a $149 Power Keyboard that lets your transform the tablet into a laptop-like work station. So, I’m a little confused with what they are saying about mobility and outdoors.

Nokia Lumia 2520 will be available in the U.S. for $500. If you’re smart, you would consider saving $50 bucks by getting a Surface Pro 2 instead. It costs only $450 and gets powered by Windows 8.1. And did you know, Nokia’s tablet actually costs more than Apple’s latest iPad Air? How ridiculous is that, right?
