Do you think the Oakland A's would like to have Yoenis Cespedes back?
The Cuban slugger went 4-for-6 last night in leading the Red Sox to an improbable 9-8 win over the Blue Jays at Fenway last night. He drove in two runs, including the last on a single with the bases loaded in the 10th inning to cap a three-run rally, after the Sox gave up two in the top of the 10th.
That win sure felt like it was out of the 2013 playbook, didn't it?
Cespedes has been terrific in a Red Sox uniform. 4 HRs, 26 RBI, .297 average and .790 OPS. His former team, the Oakland A's have really been struggling lately, having lost 7 of 8, and are really having a hard time scoring runs. While Jon Lester has been great in Oakland, they are missing Cespedes' bat badly.
The Sox are now 62-79 in this lost 2014 season. At least last night's comeback win (the Sox came from behind three times) brought back some fond memories of last year's bunch, and maybe a glimmer of what lies ahead in 2015.
