The National People’s Party (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Saturday said that a future NPP led government will not allocate public money to sustain retired Presidents and Prime Ministers.
He said such monies will be diverted for public benefit.The NPP leader said a monthly dole will be provided if such a person had no way to make a living. Dissanayake was speaking at a public event in Vavuniya.
The NPP leader also said promoting ethnic and religious differences for petty political mileage had to be stopped.
“Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, Malays and Burghers all should come together and create a new country with a better environment. The problems in the country are getting worse now. The problems that have arisen due to the dollar crisis have worsened. We are trying to create a country free of such conditions. This can be done very easily. Support is needed. That is why we must all come together and create a prosperous country,” he added.
