Nihon Hidankyo: Nobel Peace Prize 2024 Winner

The 2024 Nobel Peace Prize goes to Nihon Hidankyo, a group of Japanese atomic bomb survivors. The group has been active for decades to make a nuclear-free world.

The group started after witnessing the devastating impact of the nuclear attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The prize motivation was the efforts behind making the world free of nuclear weapons. Nihon Hidankyo group had demonstrated witness testimony about the nuclear weapons.

Nihon Hidankyo:

In 1956, the Nihon Hidankyo organization was formed by sufferers of the atomic bombs in Japan. The two nuclear bombs in Japan killed 120,000 people while affecting the lives of 650,000 people.

Nihon Hidankyo's members were exposed to radiation during Hiroshima and Nagasaki attacks.

Terumi Tanaka, Shigemitsu Tanaka, Toshiyuki Mimaki, Sueichi Kido, Sumiteru Taniguchi, Takeshi Ito, Sunao Tsuboi, Mikiso Iwasa, and many others have faced the devastating effects of nuclear attacks and radiation.

Objectives of Nihon Hidankyo:

Nihon Hidankyo works with the motto "No More Hibakusha." It means no more atomic bomb attacks.
Promote the economic and social life of the atomic bomb survivors.

Work to make the world atomic bombs free to save from another catastrophe.

Nihon Hidankyo and Nobel Piece Price 2024:

The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded Nihon Hidankyo the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize. It is the topmost award for their excellent work in making the world nuclear-free through demonstrating witness testimony.

It's been 80 years since the nuclear attacks on Japan. The world has never seen another attack, and no one is willing to take the impact or responsibility of another attack.

Hibakusha's efforts have played a significant role in making this possible.

Nihon Hidankyo will receive the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize on 10th December.

It will be the second Japanese to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in the last 123 years.
