Google Nexus 7 users who are now eagerly updating their devices with the new Android 4.4 KitKat update may soon find themselves deep in trouble with no return, as the reports now shows that the new Android update affects very badly for video playback on Nexus 7 tablets.
As TechCrunch points out, many Nexus 7 users have noticed very slow performance when trying to play HD videos on their devices after upgrading to Android KitKat via the OTA update which is currently rolling out to Nexus users. This issue was later confirmed by a performance test conducted by OptoFidelity, which showed a massive difference in the playback performance of 720p and 1080p videos after the latest Android update. In fact, the 2013 Nexus 7 wasn’t even able to play 60fps videos after KitKat.

When launching the latest iteration of Android OS, Google claimed it was specially tweaked to perform well on low-end devices. Well, in the mean time it seems like KitKat is slowing down the high-end devices.
