With the recent launch of Google’s seemingly unbeatable new Nexus 7, Apple has realized that its time for them to bring out their big guns and power up its upcoming next-gen iPad Mini with a high-resolution retina display.

Sources have told The Wall Street Journal, that “Apple is working with suppliers in Asia on its next iPad Mini with a high-resolution “retina” display”. However the size of the device will stay the same as the current iPad Mini. the Journal also hints at the possibility of Apple to offer this tablet in multiple color options.

Google’s new Nexus 7 has a screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 with 323 ppi, which is the highest available so far for a 7-incher. Let’s see what Apple have in store for us this time. Next-generation iPad Mini is expected hit “mass production” in Q4 2013.
